Who we are
AnyBacklink is a partner discovery platform for website owners, operated from the United Kingdom. For anything in this policy, contact hello@anybacklink.com.
What we collect
From signing in. You can sign in with Google, with GitHub, or with a one-time link sent to your email address. Google and GitHub tell us your email address and your name. We never see your password, and we cannot read your mail, files or contacts.
What you enter. The domains you list, their descriptions, the keywords you choose, the keywords you exclude, and the content of any swap proposal you send.
Verification. When you confirm you own a domain we request one file from it. We record only whether it matched.
Search Console, if you connect it. Entirely optional. If you connect it we read which domains that Google account is verified for, and the number of Google clicks each of your listed sites received in the last 28 days. We do not read your keywords, your pages, or anything about sites you have not listed here. We store a range rather than the number, and you can disconnect at any time from the My sites page, which deletes the connection and the ranges together.
Visit counts. We count page views with Vercel Analytics, which sets no cookies and does not identify you.
We do not use advertising trackers and we do not sell anything to anyone.
What other members can see
Your listed domain, its description and its keywords are visible to other signed-in members. Nothing is visible to logged-out visitors or to search engines.
Your email address is never shown to other members. When you send a swap proposal, the other party sees your domain and your message, not your address.
If you have connected Search Console, your listings show a traffic range such as “1k–10k clicks”. Other members never see the underlying number, and they see nothing at all if you have not connected it.
Browser extension
The AnyBacklink link checker for Chrome only runs when you click its icon. It reads the links on the page you are viewing so it can count and highlight them. That happens on your computer and none of it is sent to us.
If you connect the extension to your account, each time you open it it sends us the domain name of the site you are on, such as example.com, so it can tell you whether that site is on AnyBacklink. We do not store the domains you look up. We only record when the connection was last used.
Connecting stores a private key in the extension so it knows it is you. We keep only a scrambled copy of that key. You can disconnect from the extension, or from the Connect the extension page, which cancels the key straight away.
The extension never reads your browsing history, what you type, or your passwords, and never emails anyone for you. Invites open in your own email.
Free checkers and AI plugin
This covers the nofollow and dofollow checker, the bulk backlink checker, and the AnyBacklink plugin for Claude and ChatGPT. None of them need an account.
When you check a page, our server visits that public page and reads its links. We do not store the pages you check, your website, or the results. The plugin only receives what Claude or ChatGPT sends it for a check, such as a page address and a website name. It never sees the rest of your conversation, never signs in to anything and never changes anything.
To stop the tools being overused we keep a scrambled copy of the IP address each check came from, with the time. It cannot be turned back into the address, is used only for the hourly limit, and is deleted after a day. For the plugin this is usually the address of Claude’s or ChatGPT’s servers, not yours.
Claude and ChatGPT handle your conversations under their own privacy policies.
Why we are allowed to hold it
We process this information to provide the service you asked for. That is the contract basis under UK GDPR. Emails about proposals sent to you are part of the service rather than marketing, and you can turn them off or close your account.
Where it lives
Data is stored in a Supabase database hosted in London, and the site runs on Vercel. Sign-in is handled by Google and GitHub under their own privacy policies, and sign-in link emails go out through our email provider.
How long we keep it
For as long as your account is open. Delete a listing and it goes immediately.
There is a Delete my account button on the My sites page. It removes your account, your listings, your swap history and any Search Console connection straight away. You do not have to ask us and we do not keep a copy.
Your rights
You can ask for a copy of what we hold, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it. Email hello@anybacklink.com and we will respond within a month. If you are unhappy with how we have handled it you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk.
